Getting Better at Socks
While I wait for access to a top loading dryer (oh, please, sister, move somewhere with a top loader so I don't have to ask the Grandma) to felt the Cheshire Cat Purse, I have decided to start some socks for myself. I am using the Bamboo Regia. It still has some wool but maybe not so much that I will itch. If itching occurs I will gift the socks to my sister.
The socks are actually turning out quite nicely! Not crazy about the way the combination of colors is coming out but I have not been making mistakes on the pattern I chose: a 4 by 4 basket weave. I have finished the heel and am now making my way down the foot.
I got a lot of this sock done at Disneyland, while waiting in line for rides. My sister and I were strategic about what times to get in lines so we did not wait overly long for anything, despite the fact that Christmas Day was incredibly packed. I did quite a bit in line for Space Mountain, the Matterhorn and Screamin' (over at California Adventure). Got stared at a good bit but small price to pay for keeping myself occupied in line.
Recent yarn purchases: teal cotton will be a hat for my friend's baby (they don't seem to make baby yarns in teal) and a dusty pink merino will be Fetching for another friend.
Purchase coveted: oh, how I am trying to resist a graphite Knitter's Satchel. But if I resist I see that I have enough money for however many rounds the Sharks can manage in the playoffs this year (and it had better be all).
